Description:
In the wake of World War II, as humanity reeled from its destructive might, the shockwaves of atomic power did not just reverberate through our world. The devastating bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki caused ripples in Arcadia, a place beyond mundane understanding. As the barriers between worlds wavered, the realm of the Fae experienced its own turmoil.
From this chaos emerged the Wayfarer’s Wavelengths, a motley that would become the foundation of the Freehold of the Whispering Willows. “Echo”, with her mellifluous voice, took up the mantle as the Winter Queen. “Frequency”, in tune with the vibrancy of life, became the Spring King. “Wave”, fierce and radiant, was anointed the Summer Queen. “Thornweaver”, with her profound understanding of the Gentry and their realm, took her rightful place as the Autumn Queen.
Finally, there was “Static”, a Courtless changeling with an idea radical enough to match his name, proposed that as the world was rapidly evolving, so must Arcadia be changing. Envisioning a beacon of hope and a guide for the Lost, he conceptualized a grand radio tower within the Hedge, constructed from melancholic weeping willow trees. As the spring of 1946 blossomed, Static delved into the Hedge, marking a path for his motley to follow.
Back in the Freehold, as each season changed, The Wyrd chose a new monarch, a reflection of the evolving essence of the Whispering Willows. Over the ensuing three years, the echo of the “Lost and Found Radio Hour” drew countless Lost from even the depths of Arcadia, guiding them to the monolithic Weeping Willow. Here, Static awaited, showing the way through the treacherous, shifting paths of the Hedge.
But as autumn leaves fell in 1950, a distraught and broken Lost stumbled into the Freehold, speaking of terrors unimaginable. With his entrance, a silent era began. For 73 years, the tales of the Wayfarer’s Wavelengths became legend, whispers of a time long past. The comforting strains of the “Lost and Found Radio Hour” faded into nothingness.
Yet, history has a way of echoing back. Now, from an old-time radio, a voice breaks the decades-long silence. The soft, haunting cries of a woman emanate, a plea wrapped in layers of pain and hope.
“Can anybody hear me? Is anyone out there? This is Echo. Please, someone find me, please.”
As the chilling winds of January in the year two-thousand and twenty-four sweep through the streets, a warm glow emanates from a quaint pub known as The Wyld. Here, within its welcoming embrace, members of the Freehold of the Whispering Willows gather, seeking camaraderie and solace, finding a few precious moments where they can push away the weight of their past and simply be, together.
